F-Scotch Whiskey

Matured in a combination of the finest Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for a minimum of 21 years and bottled at 48% ABV, the ‘Parliament’ continues the great GlenDronach tradition of offering fruit-laden intensity in its single malts. This rich expression has been named ‘Parliament’ after the colony, or ‘parliament’, of rooks that have been nesting in the trees that overlook the GlenDronach distillery for almost 200 years.

Deep amber with a cherry wood sheen.

NOSE
A delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits - notably blackberries and red plums. Rich Oloroso sherry and candied orange segments. Spiced oatmeal biscuits and toasted oak fragrances bring excellent weight and balance.

PALATE
Resolute flavours of fine Oloroso sherry and bitter chocolate sauce, which has been spread liberally over homemade plum pudding. This is all infused with fabulous spicy notes - cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Full bodied with smooth tannins.

CONC

Balancing two different sides of the flavor spectrum, this single malt marries these perfectly, whilst also reflecting our coastal home and its unwavering influence. On one hand, this is an intense single malt, yet at the same time, it is truly balanced. Spice and sweetness unite in this naturally rich amber whisky to celebrate rich flavors, yet lighter, more refreshing coastal notes show another side of this single malt. NOSE: Bursting with rich dried fruit, ripe apples, and citrus, with honey sweetness and a generous chord of creamy vanilla. Slightly chocolaty and floral in the background. TASTE: Fragrant spices and Christmas cake, with layers of chocolate and distinct dark toffee sweetness. There is a hint of salty sea air on the finish.

A limited bottling of 14,088 bottles, like all Bunnahabhain whisky, this special release is natural color and non-chill filtered. Distilled and filled into cask on 7th February 2011, this release is a marriage of port finished Bunnahabhain and malt fully matured in sherry casks which were brought together post maturation result is a unique spirit alive with creamy vanilla, caramel, oak, nuts, fruit, and cinnamon spice with a subtle salty note.

This special single malt is inspired by the Ethiopian Arabica bean. Ethiopia is claimed to be the birthplace of coffee as the Arabica bean was the first species of coffee to be cultivated. ​​

The color of OLD is deep gold and NEW is much paler than Jonquiere corn. OLD offers a rather subtle profile composed of the trademark Laphroaig aromas of maritime peat smoke, medicinal notes, and citric fruits. It is nicely balanced and delicious but neither complex nor impressive. NEW's profile is richer but still not bold, I would say. The peat and the wood are much more dominant but still, the fruits, barley sugars, and some earthy-herbal aromas shine through. It is more complex than OLD but not as balanced (hence more modern-stylish). I prefer NEW over OLD (by two points).

In 1909, Greenlees Brothers introduced (Ancient) Old Parr. They named their blend after the legendary figure of Thomas Parr, said to be England's longest-lived man, aged 152 when he died in 1635. His long life symbolized the maturity of the whiskies used in the blend, whilst his wisdom represented the skill and knowledge required to produce it. James and Samuel became two of the most skilled and successful pioneers of the blended whisky business of their time. Today, the Old Parr brand still reflects its founders' prodigious dedication to quality and craftsmanship. There’s a lovely classic feel to the nose of this blend. It’s rich, dry, and sophisticated with honey, caramel, wheat biscuits, barley, dried apricot, citrus peel, pineapple, dry oak, and a dusting of wood spice. The palate opens with citrus, sweet grain, gentle spices, dried fruits, apricot, and grapefruit peel before the major notes of chocolate, hazelnut, and cocoa take over. It’s definitely worth embracing its old-timey charm.
